Mike 'the Ironman' Lloyd
At 6:20 am on cold Sunday morning on Sunday 19th August,
Mike set out on one of his biggest challenges following months of
training. For those of you who are unaware of the Ironman,
it is a
sporting triathlon rolled into a single event with all disciplines
back-to-back. An Ironman contest requires each competitor to complete a
2.4 mile
swim, a 112 mile bicycle ride and to finish, a full marathon.
The race requires an extraordinary amount of physical and
mental toughness to finish such an event. And as you can see from the
picture, Mike completed the event in a time of 15 hours, 30 minutes and
37 seconds finishing late into the evening. A truly remarkable
achievement for his first (and maybe only) Ironman!
With true dedication to our causes, Mike took this
opportunity to raise money for Lessons for Life and through his
endeavours, collected in excess
of £5000.
His fellow Trustees and supporters of Lessons
for Life would not only like to congratulate Mike on finishing the
course, but also thank him for all the efforts he went to in directly
collecting the donations from family, friends and colleagues.
